Multiphoton Mesoscope

Large Field-of-View Multiphoton Mesoscope for Functional Brain Imaging

The Thorlabs Multiphoton Mesoscope is designed for subcellular-resolution imaging across an exceptionally large 5 mm x 5 mm field of view. It is designed for functional imaging of multiple spatially separated brain regions within a single experiment, with the ability to scan the full field or jump between non-contiguous regions of interest at near-video rates. With integrated remote focusing, fixed-specimen geometry, and large-area access, it is particularly well suited to advanced in vivo neuroscience workflows.

Key strengths

  • 5 mm x 5 mm field of view with subcellular-resolution imaging
  • Scans can be configured over the full field or over multiple non-contiguous regions
  • Built-in remote focusing mirror enables fast axial control over a 1 mm travel range
  • 12 kHz resonant scanner with a virtually conjugate galvo scanner set for fast repositioning across the field
  • Objective options with 0.6 excitation NA and 1.0 collection NA for efficient multiphoton excitation and fluorescence collection
  • Available with 2.7 mm or 5.0 mm working distance objectives
  • The microscope body provides -20° to +20° rotation around the objective focus, plus fine X, Y, and Z motion while the specimen remains fixed
